Creative placemaking demonstrates the ability of the arts to activate public spaces, engage residents, and transform cultural entities into community anchors. But what is it? Using CMA’s pilot program, Sound Places, as a case study, musicians and their placemaking partners will explain placemaking’s basic principles, discuss its benefits to the community and the artists, and explore other projects that have suceeded in bringing people together toward common goals via the arts.
