Fifth House Ensemble and Loyola University’s Center for Urban Research and Learning will share their findings from long-term residency work with three social service organizations focusing on youth and adults experiencing homelessness and incarceration. In 16-week residencies, teaching artists and researchers observed measurable changes in participants’ mindfulness, agency, empowerment, collective decision-making, and creativity. This session will demonstrate the curricular content and design process behind these residency programs, as well as the mindset and behaviors essential to the success of these projects.
