As Chamber Music America’s jazz program director, Gargi Shindé administers programs supporting creation, presentation, and touring, as well as ensemble development for women bandleaders in the field of jazz. She has over a decade of experience in program curation, artist development, and arts education. She has published articles in Theatre Research International and Arts and International Affairs and lectured on Indian classical performance history and aesthetics of improvisation at conferences in the United Kingdom, Spain, Canada, and the United States. She is a classically trained sitarist and composer whose collaborations bridge Indian classical music and the traditions of jazz.
