Women of Color in the Arts (WOCA)
Kaisha S. Johnson is the founding director of Women of Color in the Arts (WOCA), a national service organization dedicated to creating racial equity in the performing arts. Kaisha co-founded WOCA to raise the voice and visibility of women of color with the intent of cultivating a field where everyone has a seat at the table. Prior to WOCA, Kaisha worked with the Center for Traditional Music and Dance, organizing NYC immigrant artist communities and presenting performance traditions from around the world. A classically trained violinist, Johnson holds a B.A. in music from Hampton University, a M.A. in music business from NYU, and has done post-graduate work in ethnomusicology.
