Larry Blumenfeld writes regularly for The Wall Street Journal about jazz and Afro-Latin music. His work has also appeared in The New York Times, Village Voice, Daily Beast and Salon, among other publication and websites. He is editor-at-large of Jazziz magazine. A frequent lecturer and moderator at the National Jazz Museum in Harlem, he hosts and curates the museum’s ongoing “Jazz and Social Justice” series. He has received the Jazz Journalists Association’s Helen Dance-Robert Palmer Award for Writing, a Katrina Media Fellowship from the Open Society Institute and was a Fellow in the National Arts Journalism program at Columbia University. He will serve as Jeannette K. Watson Distinguished Visiting Professor in the Humanities at Syracuse University in Spring 2019.
