María del Carmen Gil

Founder and President, Fundación Música y País

María del Carmen Gil is a pianist and Founder and President of Fundación Música y País, an NGO dedicated to music and social transformation programs and initiatives in Puerto Rico. Currently Professor and Chair of the Piano Department at the Puerto Rico Conservatory of Music, she previously served as its Chancellor for fifteen years. She was also Founder and President of the Latin American Association of Conservatories and Music Schools, Vice President of the International Music Council, and President of the Council of Music of the Three Americas. María holds undergraduate and graduate degrees in Piano Performance from the Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University.
