Biography
Actively involved with contemporary music, Beo String Quartet has performed over 100 concert works—including 40+ world premieres. Recent collaborations include work with Richard Danielpour, Joel Hoffman, Missy Mazzoli, Marc Mellits, Charles Nichols, Gabriela Ortiz, and Pamela Z. In demand as recording artists, Beo founded NeuKraft Records, allowing the ensemble to produce its recording commissions, original albums, and live-streamed events using state-of-the-art equipment in a new, custom-built studio. Beo’s original works combine staging that employs electronics, pre-recorded music, video projections, live sound processing, and spatial audio manipulation with virtuosic quartet writing in a variety of styles. Ranging from Haydn Recycled (in which the “Emperor” Quartet is gradually recomposed) to socially-conscious works like 19-20 and triggerLand, Beo’s original works show the potential of a 21-century string quartet to fully integrate with the classics.
